SASSA has announced when people will get their social grants in October 2025. The payments will start in the first week of the month. Old age grants will be paid on Thursday October 2. People with disability grants will get their money on Friday October 3. All child support and other grants will start from Monday October 6. SASSA wants people to know they don’t need to get their money right away. The money will stay safe in their accounts until they need it.

The government will raise social grants in October following the 2025/26 budget plan. Each type of grant will get R10 more than before. Old Age and Disability grants will be R2,320. People over 75 & War Veterans will get R2340. The Care Dependency Grant will be R2,320. Parents will receive R560 for Child Support. Foster Child Grants will be R1,250. The SRD Grant is now R370. These changes will help South Africans deal with rising living costs.
SASSA Moves Away from Postbank Services – What Beneficiaries Should Know
SASSA and Postbank will end their agreement on October 30 2025. You can still use your SASSA card at ATMs and stores. But it’s better to open your own bank account or get paid through store payment systems. If you want to change how you get paid you need to submit your request by the 19th of each month. You must bring your ID & three months of bank statements. This new system will make payments faster and reduce the long lines at payment points.

SASSA shut down its Johannesburg office late on October15, 2025 to deal with corruption. Eight workers were suspended while fraud investigations take place. People who need help can now visit Westbury Clinic South Hills Community Hall or Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre instead. SASSA’s CEO Themba Matlou promised that payments will keep running smoothly and said they are serious about stopping fraud. He assured that all money will reach the right people who need it.
