SASSA is bringing in a new system to stop people from cheating the grant system.

Starting 25 October 2025 everyone who wants to get a grant must give their fingerprints or have their face scanned at SASSA offices. This new rule will help make sure only real people get grants. The system will check each person’s identity using their body features. This change affects all SASSA offices across the country. It’s part of their plan to make grant payments more secure and accurate.

The new system helps stop fraud and wrong payments. It makes paperwork easier and keeps better records.
It also helps SASSA check their work more carefully. People who can’t visit SASSA offices can choose someone else to go for them.

They just need to tell SASSA about this person. “We want to make sure everyone gets the right payment and is properly registered in our system” says Paseka Letsatsi who leads communication at SASSA.
