Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe believes SASSA has good systems to stop fraud. The agency now uses better security to make sure grants go to the right people. Tolashe wants all recipients to use fingerprint scanning as part of their new safety plan. She also told government officials that ending their deal with Postbank won’t affect how people get their money.
In early 2025 SASSA faced heavy criticism because their grant checks were messy and slow. Many people got angry when they couldn’t get their money on time.

After two students from Stellenbosch found big problems with the system changes had to be made. Tolashe knows that people don’t trust the agency right now. She said they are working hard to fix all the issues that have caused problems.
