Songuni Cultural Experts, an organization founded to address societal challenges and family conflicts, is committed to bridging cultural and spiritual gaps in the community. Founded by two passionate women of African descent, Gogo Buthelezi and Dr. Lekoa, the organization focuses on providing unique and evidence-based solutions.
Operating from Richards Bay and KwaNongoma, Songuni offers various services, including supporting families through marriage processes, guiding major life events, conducting research for closure, and mediating cultural and spiritual matters. The organization also specializes in managing family disputes related to culture and spirituality, hosting seminars for diverse cultural groups.
Gogo Buthelezi, a respected cultural expert and Sangoma since 2002, co-owns Songuni. She serves as the chairperson of the Civil Society structure in the Nongoma sub-district and is the chairperson of the Traditional Healers Sector. Dr Lekoa also co-owner, is a businesswoman and academic mentor with a PhD in Development Studies. She co-created uMthombiso woMfana, focusing on the wellbeing of young boys.
To address identified spiritual gaps, Songuni Cultural Experts engages with the community through radio interviews and phone-in programs, providing open discussions and assistance. Gogo Buthelezi and Dr. Lekoa host the Mid-Morning Punch”Siyokhala Ezaleni”show on North Coast Radio every Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00, offering guidance and advice on ancestral spirituality.
