Mr. Ntokozo Biyela, the KZN Premier Candidate for Build One South Africa (BOSA), has a diverse background that spans entrepreneurship, media, and community development. Hailing from Nquthu kwaLuvisi, he completed his primary education in Nquthu and attended Inkamana High School in Vryheid for his secondary education, where he studied Food Science Technology.
Biyela’s career journey began in the corporate world, working with bakers and then moving on to Unilever. Eventually, he ventured into entrepreneurship, owning a franchise and establishing a mobile cold room manufacturing business in South Africa. Alongside his ventures, he authored a book and provided advisory services to businesses through radio and newspaper columns.
BOSA, a relatively new political party, has established a presence in 11 districts of KwaZulu Natal. However, their election campaign strategy is currently focused on five districts: Ethekwini, Umgungundlovu, King Cetshwayo, Zululand, and Ugu. These districts were chosen due to their population concentration. BOSA’s campaign is guided by their “10 ideas,” which serve as the cornerstone of their vision for the region.
Addressing societal challenges, particularly crime, is a top priority for BOSA. Biyela emphasized the need for comprehensive crime prevention strategies. One key proposal is to decentralize national police competency, making it a provincial responsibility. This approach aims to foster community involvement by integrating the police force, Community Policing Forums (CPF), and private security services. Additionally, BOSA plans to establish a crime prevention fund, with contributions from businesses, to support initiatives aimed at curbing criminal activities.
Education reform is another critical aspect of BOSA’s agenda. Biyela outlined plans to provide parents with a R15,000 voucher, allowing them to choose the school that best suits their children’s needs. This initiative aims to promote equal access to quality education, including for children with disabilities.
