In the heat of the election period, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) made its presence known in Mpofana Mooi River, where they addressed the pressing concerns of the local community. Mr. Thami Ntuli, the Premier Candidate for the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal, highlighted key issues and outlined the party’s plans should they win the province.
1. Tackling Corruption: Corruption siphons taxpayers’ money, hindering progress and development. The IFP pledges to eradicate corruption, ensuring funds are allocated to meet the needs of society. Drawing from their history of clean governance, the IFP aims to optimize resources and address societal challenges effectively.
2. Rural Development: The IFP emphasizes the economic development of rural areas, drawing on their track record of success. Initiatives like the ITHALA bank, established during their tenure, empowered rural communities by providing financial support for businesses and job creation. The IFP plans to revitalize such programs to uplift rural economies.
3. Agricultural Empowerment: Mpofana Mooi River boasts fertile soil, ideal for agriculture. However, many locals still face challenges in this sector. The IFP will facilitate the establishment of cooperatives and expedite land distribution to empower farmers. Additionally, measures will be implemented to combat livestock theft, safeguarding livelihoods.
4. Infrastructure Development: Recognizing the importance of infrastructure in economic growth, the IFP pledges to prioritize infrastructure development, particularly roads. Improved infrastructure will bolster the transport industry, stimulate rural businesses, and enhance public health.
Mr. Ntuli emphasized the IFP’s commitment to addressing challenges in Mooi River, urging residents to support the party in the upcoming elections. Despite the area being governed by the ANC, the IFP aims to implement transformative changes, including job creation and economic revival.
The IFP’s Youth Brigade echoed these sentiments, emphasizing their focus on job creation and educational empowerment. Plans include providing grants to support job seekers and fostering an environment conducive to youth development.
