The IFP National Policy Conference is all set to commence at the Imbizo Hall (eMpangeni) in Umhlathuze. The conference is scheduled to kick off tomorrow (12th December) and continue through Wednesday (13th December), with registrations officially starting today.
Honorable S.L. Ngcobo, the Secretary-General of the IFP and a Member of Parliament, inaugurated the conference with opening remarks.
During his address, Honorable VF Hlabisa, the President of the IFP and a Member of Parliament, acknowledged that this is the first national conference without Umntwana wakwaPhindangene. He highlighted the profound loss the party experienced a few months ago with the passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. However, he emphasized their collective strength, drawn from an unshakable foundation that equips them to move forward unitedly. Over the next two days, they aim to honor Buthelezi’s legacy by centering their values and his vision while tackling the tasks ahead. They express deep gratitude for his contributions to the IFP and South Africa, recommitting themselves to fulfilling the party’s destiny.
Since its establishment in 1975, the Inkatha Freedom Party has been dedicated to serving South Africa, shaping the nation’s trajectory by offering principled leadership that champions justice, stability, and hope. Honorable VF Hlabisa also highlighted the party’s ongoing commitment to assess its policies, ensuring they remain aligned with the country’s best interests. In recent months, the IFP engaged with communities through the KUNGAWE (ITS ABOUT YOU) campaign, listening to their concerns and integrating these insights into the draft policies to be presented at the conference. These policies will undergo thorough scrutiny by delegates to formulate the best possible solutions for the nation. Subsequently, the NEC will refine these proposals, setting the stage for the critical work ahead.
Honorable VF Hlabisa urged the delegates to engage in robust debates to yield optimal outcomes.
