Nozibusiso Zethembiso Mthiyane, a 16-year-old teenage girl from Birdswood in Richards Bay, exudes confidence as she arrives at North Coast Radio House for an interview. She is here to share her journey in the Miss Teen South African Leaders competition, where she stands as one of the finalists. This pageant, which targets young girls aged 13 to 19, aims to bolster their confidence and leadership skills. This year marks the inaugural run of the Miss Teen SA Leaders contest, designed to empower young girls to become strong leaders who can make a positive impact in their communities.
The competition encourages participants to uncover and showcase their leadership qualities, helping them realize their potential as future community leaders. For many young girls, this is a dream come true, but only a select few have the opportunity to step into these roles.
Nozibusiso began her education at Arboretum Primary School and is currently a high school student. She credits her family and her church, Ebenezer Family Church, as her sources of inspiration. Her entire family came out to support her during the interview, exemplifying the strong familial bonds that motivate her.
Nozibusiso is not only a young model from Richards Bay but also a teenager with a calm and lovely spirit. She is known for her heart of gold and her readiness to help her community in any way possible. Her modeling journey began with the Miss Ballito Pre-Teen competition, and now she is a finalist in the Miss Teen South African Leaders contest. This competition is a significant step towards her dream of representing South Africa on a larger stage.
“Being a finalist in Miss Teen South African Leaders will help me reach many people in the community, giving me a chance to serve as a community-loving person,” Nozibusiso says. She believes that entering the Miss Teen SA Leaders competition is one of the best decisions she has ever made. The competition challenges her to step out of her comfort zone and grow, pushing her to new heights. Nozibusiso hopes that her participation will inspire other young girls to follow their dreams.
“My inspiration is my family; they always encourage me to work hard and make my dream a reality. They constantly remind me that success is the sum of small efforts that can unlock the door to success,” she shares.
