On 28 February, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) hosted a Back-to-School Career Expo at Mandlanzini Community Hall, aimed at guiding and inspiring Grade 12 learners as they prepare for their future careers. The event brought together key stakeholders committed to youth empowerment and skills development.
Prominent attendees included Mr. Elphas Mbatha, Social and Ethics Committee Chairperson of RBIDZ, Councilor R.F. Kearns, as well as representatives from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, Mondi, SiyaQhubeka, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (KZNEDTEA), Boston, Trade and Investment KZN, and the Central Applications Office (CAO).
Mr. Mbatha highlighted RBIDZ’s community development initiatives, including bursary programs, agricultural support, and skills training. He emphasized the significance of private sector-community collaborations in fostering national development. As part of the event, students received memorabilia, with special gifts awarded to outstanding participants. The career expo served as a platform to expose learners to various career opportunities, promote access to higher education resources, and strengthen partnerships aimed at empowering the youth.
