In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Zanokuhle Khumalo, a 7-year-old girl from Ngwelezane, was reported missing on Monday, July 29, 2024. The community was devastated to learn that her lifeless body was discovered the following day in a neighboring house, concealed under a bed.
The tenant of the house has been identified as the alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime. With the assistance of vigilant community members, the suspect was apprehended and handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS). The community’s prompt action and cooperation with the authorities were crucial in the swift arrest.
Today, the family of Zanokuhle Khumalo received a visit from the Mayor of the City of Umhlathuze, Councillor Xolani Ngwezi, and the Speaker of the City of Umhlathuze, Councillor A.T. Gumede. Accompanying them were local pastors from various churches, all gathered to extend their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.
