Describing the situation as a sad reflection of gender-based violence (GBV), she emphasized the imperative need for women’s bodies to be respected. The Women’s League, she asserted, is committed to ensuring that such cases are thoroughly investigated. They have called upon MEC of Cogta Bongi Sithole Moloi to assemble a dedicated team to delve into these allegations promptly.
Furthermore, Mom Thembeka Mchunu urged all political parties to take decisive action in safeguarding women’s rights against such egregious forms of GBV. She affirmed that the Women’s League will closely monitor these cases, advocating for justice and support for the victims. She stressed that no individual should wield power over a woman’s body, coercing them into compromising situations under the threat of job loss or intimidation.
Emphasizing the enduring fight against GBV, she reminded the public that the battle extends far beyond the confines of the 16 days of activism, calling for continuous vigilance and action every day of the year.
