The birthday celebration of the Secretary of the Inkatha Freedom Party, Councillor T.S. Gumede, proved to be a remarkable success as he chose to mark the occasion by giving back to the community. The event, held at Ngwelezane Hall, was hosted by Mr. Gumede alongside the Mayor of Mlalazi Municipality.
A diverse gathering, including community members, students, parents, and pastors, filled Ngwelezane Hall to witness the Shoe Handover Ceremony. Mhlathuze Police Officers were also present, ensuring the smooth flow of the event.
The highlight of the celebration was the distribution of school shoes to over 400 students, a generous gesture from Cllr T.S. Gumede to support the education of young minds in Ngwelezane.
In commemoration of his 60th birthday, Mr. Gumede, extended thoughtful gifts to students, including not only school shoes but also personal care items such as roll-on and sanitary pads. The event served as a heartwarming example of the community coming together to support its youth. Ngwelezane Hall became a hub of positive energy, with the Mayor of Mlalazi, Cllr Queen Xulu who is also Secretary General of the Inkatha Freedom Party’s Women’s Brigade Nationally, Chief Zungu, and numerous students and teachers in attendance.
During his address, the Secretary of the Inkatha Freedom Party and Speaker of the City of Mhlathuze, Mr. Gumede, shared his life story, highlighting the struggles he overcame to reach where he is today. The event’s key speaker, Honourable Mayor Q.T. Xulu, emphasized the importance of youth behavior and urged respectful conduct at all times.
